Anyone engaged in surgery of malformations of the head in infants cannot tell right away whether long-term results will be adequate. For this reason the interdisciplinary "Hamburg Center of Craniofacial Anomalies and Cleft Lip, Jaw and Palate", commanding over 30 years of documentation experience, continued to uphold the tradition of three previous symposia (1954, 1964, 1979) by convening the 4th International Symposium and inviting teams from malformation centers who can present long-term results.
