The scientific approach to the study of dreams has traditionally been one of applied theoretical constructs rather than utilization of replicable evidence based studies. However, as theory based constructs of dreaming (such as psychoanalysis and activation-synthesis) have come under the scrutiny of clinical evidence, researchers have faced a need for reputable literature which focuses less on traditional theories. The author’s 2007 book "The Limits of Dream" was among the first to detail this deconstructive process, but researchers are now in need of a follow-up volume which reviews modern evidence-based insights into the dream state, discusses the interaction between science and dreams, and looks to the future of dream science.
