Although there are several books dedicated to synthesis and material applications of organofluorine compounds there have been no major reference books on the biological and medicinal applications of organofluorine chemistry in recent years. One of the related books was published by Elsevier in 1993 (Organofluorine Compounds in Medicinal Chemistry and Biomedical Applications).
This book will cover topics on biochemically relevant organofluorine compounds, and their synthesis and mechanistic pathways. Organofluorine compounds have renewed interest in pharmaceutical industry, and therefore a concise book on this topic is highly relevant to scientific community involved in this area.
Although it is too early to say if it can be adapted as a text book by many universities as the contents of the book will be more specialized, it would certainly serve as a reference book for courses in organic synthesis, advanced organic chemistry, and courses in biochemistry.
